Idaho teen charged in I-84 stabbing at rest area now in adult jail

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) A teenager accused of stabbing a woman at an Interstate 84 rest stop near Boardman has been transferred from juvenile detention to a Pendleton jail now that he's turned 18 years old.

The East Oregonian reports a hearing has been scheduled for Thursday to consider Talon Davis' fitness to participate in his own defense.

The teen from Lewiston, Idaho, was arrested last month after a 51-year-old woman was stabbed in the lower back after exiting a restroom stall. The woman survived and Davis was charged with assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

The assault charge falls under Oregon's mandatory minimum sentencing law. It carries a prison term of at least five years, 10 months.
